If there is a clinical concern for a CSF leak he will organise investigations to test fluid from the nose and imaging such as CT or MRI scans to identify the cause and location of the CSF leak.
CSF Rhinorrhoea testing is used to determine whether a fluid leaking from the nose or mouth as a result of trauma is CSF arising from damage to the membranes covering the brain.
Cranial leaks may occur in the nose following surgery (rhinorrhea), from the external auditory csf leak from nose testcanal (otorrhea) or from an operative defect in the skull.
